Menorquina Chair | Small Adjustment | Estrella Damm | Barcelona

The so-called Menorquina chair is a traditional type that originates from craftsmanship, and, as is common with these pieces, it has some ergonomic deficiencies. One of them is the lack of stability in the rear part. Estrella Damm uses these chairs on some bar terraces and tasks us with finding a solution to the ergonomic flaw that causes falls backward.

It is a typical industrial design project, focused on solving simple problems. The solution we propose involves curving the rear legs, aiming to make this adjustment as subtle and unnoticeable as possible.

Today, it's possible to see chairs with both versions—modified and unmodified—on bar terraces, with the difference being barely perceptible to those unaware of it.
